I own a 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT with 5-gear automatic has 10,9000KM. There’re two quite annoying issues happened in the past few days.
The first one is, when I drove my car in the urban road with 60km/h, then entered the motorway, I gently accelerated to 100km/h. However, there’re two warning occurred in the dashboard at the speed around 80~90km/h. One flashing warning is “AT TEMP OIL”, the other one is about ABS. I then stop the engine, waiting about 20 seconds, start the engine again. All warnings disappeared, everything back to normal. It happened 3 times last week on the same road after my daily work. If I drive the car under speed 80 km/h, these warning never happened.
The second problem is intermittent, while coasting in traffic or starts to move the car at low speed, a shocking shift “bang” happened, felt like the car was rear-ended but the car continued forward, without any problems. It’s happened from time to time recently.
The transmission oil was changed one and half month ago. After connecting to the diagnostic tool, it shows a history P1710 code which is the TC Turbine speed sensor 2 related.
Per your professional experience, do you have any solution/suggestion to my car? Thanks so much.
Hi there,
I recommend you see a transmission specialist, it could be that if a speed sensor is faulting, the transmission doesn't know how fast the vehicle is travelling and the gear change timing could be compromised. Or if there is a problem with the fluid or excessive temperature, this could cause transmission damage.
Hi there, did you ever find out what the root cause for this issue was? I am seeing something similar for my Subaru....I've had the Speed Sensor changed and had the transmission fluid flushed and changed...still seeing the same issues.
