I recently purchased a Nissan Tiida LATIO 2007 (CVT Transmission) from a rental car company . It has got 242000kms on the clock. After few weeks it developed a problem in CVT where the reverse gear would engage after 3-4 seconds with a jerk. I took it to a Nissan dealer where they did transmission flush and put in new fluid and filter. They recommended me to do a complete gearbox overhaul and quoted me a $2500 bill.

The car still has the problem when we engage the reverse gear which occurs less frequently after the cvt fluid change.

Is it recommended to keep driving the my car or should I have it repaired as the car has no other issues when driving?

Thanks

Hi there,
It's a bit of a hard decision, under the CGA it could be too soon to have purchased a vehicle from a dealer to experience such a costly problem, even though it would be fairly normal under any other circumstance when considering the mileage. You may need to go back to the dealer first and see about a warranty or negotiate repair.
It may not be economical to spend almost half the vehicle's value on repairs.
