Ask an expert

The engine in my car has a defect, symptoms being similar to pinking/rattling. Car is still under warranty. Dealer has done all sorts of work over the past 18 months to no effect (fuel additive, oil, plugs, carbon clean etc.) I'd like to get an independent expert to assess the problem and wondered if AA car inspection service is able to do such a specific assessment..?

An AA vehicle inspection will not be the right one for this specific application.
Ours are designed to equip a buyer with information about the vehicle as a whole and point them in the direction of specific items to receive further investigation before purchasing.
You will need a specific check of the engine operation that may come from the manufacturer or someone who can carryout out engine operation diagnostics.

Yeah, thanks Cade, I thought it might be a bit specialist, while I remain somewhat sceptical of the pronouncements by the manufacturer so far. Problem is it's still under warranty and can't be taken elsewhere. It's a matter of trying to get an expert opinion that is impartial and without a vested interest in the outcome.

So far, I'm a bit stuck and open to ideas on how I might go about that.
