Hey,

I own a 1996 Nissan Lucino auto and I had a little trouble earlier this evening. Its been driving fine but when i made a sharp left turn into a car park at low speed, the engine cut off and a few dash lights came on (like they do when stalling a manual). I usually drive a manual and the only thing I can compare it too it when a manual stalls but without the shudder. After the engine cut out, i took the key out, put the car in park tried to start again as normal. It worked fine. Continued into the car park no problem. The journey home was fine which involves quite a lot of tight corners.

The car hasn't been used much over the past couple of weeks, except for the last two days doing short journeys around town.

I'm slightly bemused as to why it just cut out for no real reason. If anyone has any advice on what it could be, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Matt

Hi there, until it happens on a regular basis, it can be a little difficult to pinpoint or to even know if anything you try actually fixes it. However you could start by cleaning the throttle/ intake manifold (Repco sell intake cleaner in a can) to see if the ide control is a bit sticky. This could lead to stalling if the conditions were right and the engine load overcame the ability of the idle control to keep the car from stalling out.
