The bonnet and roof paintwork has deteriorated badly. It was purchased 5 yrs old and I suspect been repainted earlier although no apparent evidence of this. Is it worth repainting and how much would it cost, in Dunedin?

Generally it would not be considered worth it for an 18 year old vehicle these days, unless it was a performance vehicle. There can even be a Vinyl wrap option if you want to get a bit fancy, however I would expect the price to start at 3k for any sort of reasonable job.
