Just wondering if there are any steering issues in the column. Taken one for a test and there is a bit of a knock sometimes from the dash area. Is this a concern?

I've not specifically heard of a problem with anything inside the car, but the sound could actually be travelling up the steering column and give the appearance of being under the dash. This would give way to a few possibilities from worn rack mount bushes, rack or tie-rod end joints, or even suspension strut platform bearings, all which would need to be inspected.

The steering column universal joints do sometimes wear on these. Not a hugely common problem, but not what you'd call really unusual either, so I'd start looking there.
