I have a 1998 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE which has a faulty instrument cluster which I plan to replace with second hand part. However this will mean the the odometer reading will change. I believe that I would need to some how let the NZTA know about this change in the reading, but I not sure how I would go about notifying them or what the procedure is?

Hi there,
From what I gather, you don't need to let anyone know that the speedo was replaced and the reading is different, unless maybe when going for a wof or selling the vehicle.
I read it's only an offence to 'tamper' with an odo without reasonable excuse.
