Hi, Am wanting to buy a Toyota Rav 4 to tow a small caravan but have recently been told that all models 2006 onwards have CVT transmissions. Is this correct?
And.. if it is then the tow rate would decrease to 800kg braked not the 1500kgs I was quoted by a tow bar installer.
Thank you for help.

If the RAV4 is an imported model it may be CVT and have different specifications to the conventional automatic model available in the NZ new models.
Both transmissions were available in 2006.
I would recommend consulting with Toyota for more details on the difference in capacity, typically CVT models have a lower towing capacity rating.
