I have a 2012 Mazda cx9 done 74000km. Recently the transfer case had to be replaced due product fault. I'm wondering if having different tread tyres between front and back makes a difference ie contributing to the stress on the transfer case for the awd system. The rear tyre still got the original tyres from new but have replace the set in the front with Hancook tyres in July 2016 (after 60000km).

Hi there,
Generally tread depth differences won't cause harm, it's more diameter and profile anomalies that can cause problems, but I would expect ABS warnings to come on if that were the case. As the vehicle would sense different rolling speeds.
