Dear advisor, I recently found my outer CV boot torn. On making a tight right U-turn, I hear a slight clicking noise which may be from the CV joint. However, when the U-turn is a wide one, there is no such noise. As my car is a 2001 model, is it worth it to spend on a new CV joint, or can I replace the CV boot and replace the CV joint only when the clicking sound becomes loud and obvious? Thanks for your valuable advice :)

Hi there,
If the joint is not noisy, you can usually get away with just a boot. But in this case it would be best to replace the whole lot in one go. In most cases the labour is almost the same to do the job whether the boot or joint is replaced.
