Hello there

We looked at a few compact SUVs and hatchbacks in the last few days and are seriously considering Peugeot 3008 Allure. Purely based on what we see (specs, features on offer etc.) I am well aware of all the cons associated with Euro makes; however 3008 as a package seems like a real stand-out. It has all the features we need (and more) and it seems future-proof to be able to warrant such an investment. But the more pragmatic side of me can’t ignore the fact that I can go for the highest spec Civic (with Honda Sensing) for almost the same (or lower) price-tag. What we are looking for in the car:
•   More than sufficient grunt (enough power on the motorway/open roads)
•   Safety features (buying a brand new car without these will be outdated in no time, I imagine)
•   Driving performance and peace of mind – reliability, maintenance etc.
While Peugot seems to have everything we want, I am not convinced if it is a pragmatic choice. It is okay if it costs more than its Jap competitors in terms of ongoing maintenance etc. but it shouldn’t be a lemon! I read a lot of good things about this particular model as to how it is a game changer for Peugeot etc but remain unconvinced if it will translate into a reliable, hassle-free driving experience for the next decade or so. Please let me know your thoughts. Also, if there are any other makes/models I should consider. Any advice will be much appreciated.
