My car is Nissan Note 2005.I just replaced my front brake pads suggested by the mechanic. However, it takes more time and long distance for me to brake and the the braking felt very soft. I drove back to ask the mechanic, they told me it's normal just because the DISC is too old need more time to adjust. Did they said correctly? I worried there was something wrong with the brake system such as there is air in it. The mechanic always said they checked them fine and the car is self-adjust. Could you please give some suggestions what should I do? Is it normal for the soft brake and long time to stop the car? Thank you so much for your help.

Hi there,
New brakes will need to wear in before they work as they did before. The old pads were worn into the shape of the disc, and without replacing the disc at the same time the new flat pad surface will take a while to bed in to the disc. So naturally this takes a bit of harder stopping as part of the process which would mostly have been carried out by the mechanics roadtest before you get the car. There is not usually any provision for air to enter the system as part of a pad replacement, unless the fluid had been flushed and bled incorrectly. If in doubt, keep going back to the mechanic until you are satisfied that all is well.

Thank you so much for your reply. It really helped me a lot. I will go back to the mechanic to double check it again.
