About 1 in every 10 engine starts, usually on a first start of the day, the rev counter on my Toyota Allex doesn't work properly - like it's stuck.
When I drive at even 80 or 90km/h on the motorway it only registers at 500rpm - instead of the 2500 it would normally. When I'm stationary it sits at zero. Note: the speedometer and odometer work fine during this. If I stop the car and then start it again, or have driven it in the last few hours, the problem fixes itself.
Is this an issue which requires urgent attention? Could a car fail a warrant because of it?
Thanks.
