Hi, the tachometer moves erratically all the time, eg between 2-4000rpm, even when idling. Sometimes settles after been driving a while. Don't think the revs are changing, just the gauge. Any idea what/how much to fix/how serious?
thanks.

It could be a good engine tune will overcome this problem. Your local garage should be able to advise better (possible fault and an estimate of cost) by listening to the engine and taking the car for a short test drive.

This is such excellent advise coming from a 'AA expert' I really did raugh out roud (ror). Op I think more to the point your problem would be located within the rev counter itself. Nissans have a couple of common failures that occur with the gauge these can easily be sorted at your local Automotive electrical workshop

Hi, yeah, I'm with you. Excellent technical expertise, I'll definitely ask more questions on this forum, well worth it. ???? Hometune were good enough to give me the same pointer you did.

Good on you:)

Hey there,Elizabeth....Thought this may help you...I open myself to being wrong also.
I own a 1994 nissan cefiro 2LV6 Automatic.
Id say your sentra has a onboard computer,Take it to your nearest AA centre and they will plug in an adaption to read what is wrong with the vehicle motor wise that is....Or if your transmission hasn't been flushed out, this could be a cause.
