Hi I recently had issues with my tyres scrapping the guards of my car. I took to a shop and they came up with a solution, they Shaved the back of the mag wheel off 4mm and then slotted in a 3mm spacer. My worry is another car place has told me this is illegal and won't get warrant or pass for insurance as the safety of the wheel has now been compromised. Is this correct ? Thankyou

If your wheels have been modified or spacers haven added the vehicle would now require low volume certification. These modifications would be considered illegal until certified or returned back to where the vehicle had unmodified wheels and didn't require spacers, and didn't foul the vehicles body work or suspension componentry.

The car place recommend to shave off 4mm from the back space of the rim. And that was too much as it started scrapping the inside of the car, so they slotted in a 3mm spacer. I'm concerned because I took it to a performance car shop and the guy was a low volume inspector. He said the shaved Rim is in safe to the wheel
