My engine light came on while driving. The AA Roadside did a diagnostic scan and said it was the oil pressure switch. I took my car to my local garage and gave them this information. I was charged $40 for them to perform the same diagnostic scan, $104 for a new aftermarket oil pressure switch and freight, $46 for parts, and $64 technician fee. I would like to know if this is reasonable (especially the scan fee) for a 2007 Holden Captiva.

Hi there,
Those costs sound reasonable.
The workshop will always to their own scan/ diagnosing in order to confirm that it is the correct issue they are looking at. Because if they get it wrong, they would be liable for extra costs, and could even be ordering the wrong parts.
I'm not sure what other parts that cost $46 are, as the switch is the part replaced at a cost of $104.
