Hi, we have just failed a warrant because our "brake master cylinder is leaking". Do you know what sort of repair this would require? Or roughly how much it might cost? As it is an older car (1997)we are reaching a point where we have to weigh up the cost of repairs v the value of the car etc. Thanks.

These are not usually too expensive, and the best way is to fit a new part which can usually be obtained aftermarket from a parts supplier. I would say usually around the $500 mark, depending on ease of access, and part price. There will be also brake fluid and extra labour to bleed all the brakes added into the mix.
