Ask an expert

I noticed a few drops of oil on the garage floor last weekend. Have been told it is probably a hairline crack in the oil filter housing, and the repair will take about 5 hours and cost approx $1200 (incl GST, parts and labour).
Does this sound reasonable? Would it be best to be done by garage that specialises in VW cars or could any good mechanic do it?
Would appreciate any advice.

The best thing would be to have a workshop look at it in order to diagnose the fault correctly, the area would need a thorough clean down and the leak source checked.
A specialist may cost more, but they have expert knowledge and can do the job more efficiently which could save money in the long run.
