What are the pros and cons for cvt - any driving peculiarities, any long term reliability issues as compared with e.g. 4 speed automatics. I am particularly interested in Corolla Blade, Nissan Dualis from 2007

Hi there,
They are an acquired taste, and a few were known to be a bit of trouble up till around year 2010 (Honda and Nissan mostly).
They are essentially a one-speed and so the revs tend to sit high under acceleration and then the vehicle speed increases.
They are generally smooth and good for maintaining fuel economy.
Not aware of any issues with the blade, but would take extra care with looking at the Dualis cvt, (but not specifically had complaints about this vehicle either)
Later model CVT's are generally brilliant and have steps programmed into them, and can even take a while to figure out they are in fact a cvt.
