Hi There,
I am looking for a smallish run around car around $7k. My search so far has found many Honda FIT and Nissan Tiidas. All the ones I'm looking at are around 1500cc, 2005-2007, and less than 100,000km on the odometer.
Is there one that you can recommend over the other when considering reliability and maintenance costs generally?
What should I be looking for in particular with these models?

Hi there,
Both cars are well known to have CVT transmission issues, but there are also a lot around and are very popular.
I would possibly pick the Honda over the Tiida. They say that if the transmission starts shuddering it can often be fixed with a fluid change and an additive put in. But if any more than that is required, repairs can be very expensive in both vehicles.
Toyota and Mazda have some good options you may want to look into liker the Allex, Runx or Mazda Demio or Axella.
