Hi there. I'm looking to buy a second hand car, specifically a BMW. I've got my eye on a couple of 320i's from 2005. I just had a couple questions about reliability and cost of repair. I've heard that purchasing a european car in NZ can be a bad idea, especially BMW, as later model BMWs tend to develop lots of problems and parts cost a fortune. In your expert opinion, is it a good idea to purchase a BMW 320i here in New Zealand?

Hi there,
From family experience on a similar model to this. He absolutely loves the car, however had to spend quite a bit getting small things replaced in order to get it up to a level he was happy with. Things like tight throttle cable/ pedal, elect mirror switch(mirrors randomly folding in), oil level sensor, ambient air temperature sensor to name a few. The cars in general seem to be reliable, but as they age the small things seem to start requiring attention.
