My daughter is a student and wanting to buy a station wagon to commute between Sth & Nth Islands where she is at Uni. Safety, reliability and affordability are important and she has a budget of $7k.

At the moment we are looking at a 2005 Mazda Atenza which has done 189,000 kms ($6,300) and a 2005 Toyota Fielder Corolla which has done 118,000 kms ($6,500). Her favourite is a Mazda 6 GSX but this is proving to be a bit out of the budget.

Do you have any thoughts about these vehicles or any other suggestions of what we should be looking at?

Thanks.

Hi there,
These vehicles are both great choices, I struggle to think of many better options for this year of vehicle. I would recommend finding a vehicle with the lowest km's as possible, so the Fielder looks like the better choice of the two, and would be the more fuel economic option.
