I'm looking at buying a 2012 Subaru Outback that has done 95,000km and has its service maintenance booked stamped since new. However the previous company owner maintained in annually rather than the recommended every 12,500km. With mileage of 23,000km per annum should I be concerned about the gap between servicing and rule out buying it. Or should I proceed and ask for a vehicle inspection to determine whether this will be an future issue for reliability of the engine?

Hi there,
It is a bit of a gamble, in essence the vehicle has been serviced half as much as it should have by this mileage. The price might offset the potential issues that could arise in the future (if any). My concern would be maintaining the engine oil level for 23k if this was not topped up, the potential for it to have low engine oil for a time before reaching the service might not help the engine last.
