I am considering buying a new 2.0L diesel Subaru Outback and would appreciate your thoughts on its reliability and suitability.

I live in the country about half an hour from Greymouth and so will mostly be just driving on State Highway 6, but also occasionally on poorly maintained metal roads, and a few times a year across Arthur's Pass to Christchurch. I like the 6.3l/100km economy rating and the large storage space. I think I should do enough highway driving to clear the DPF?

Thanks David.

Hi David,
From what I know, these vehicles have proven to be very good, no one has called us to give negative feedback. Subaru's Lineartronic CVT transmission is one of the best on the market.
Yes I would definitely think that your driving distances should help keep the DPF clear.
