Hi Jack

We're looking for a tow vehicle Toyota Landcruiser or Nissan Patrol Pre 2000.

Which would be the better choice?Also which transmission, manual or Auto would be more suitable?

The Nissan Patrol is an absolute beast of a vehicle and built for the most rugged conditions. While the Landcruiser is just as robust it does tend to lend itself more for those looking for a little more comfort and refinement.

Both transmissions have their benefits but I suspect a manual would carry a much less risk factor especially if you are looking at high mileage vehicles. Nothing is cheap on these types of vehicles however; a manual clutch replacement on either the Toyota or Nissan would cost you plenty.

Past use and service history may help you decide which vehicle and transmission type to choose.
