I am considering buying a un-complied 1997 Mini GT used import.

Just wondering what the issues (& costs) might be in getting this vehicle compliant to register for road use in NZ?

Appealing as it may sound I would give this car a very wide berth.

I strongly suspect the car has been shipped to NZ without due diligence being carried out first and the importer has since discovered it does meet the required compliance standards.

If this is the case, the Mini cannot be registered to drive on public roads in NZ neither can it be modified to meet those standards.

As a matter of interest I would suggest you back to the seller and ask why the vehicle has not been complied.
