Hi

I am thinking to buy a Nissan Skyline and a few people mentioned that they can potentially have a number of expensive electronic issues to fix. Is that true? Are you aware of any know problems with Skyline? looking around 2006/2007 models

Other option I was looking at was Japan imported Lexus. Any views on this?

Appreciate it.

Cheers

Hi there,
They are right, I have also heard that the transmissions were prone to faults and were very expensive to remedy.
Lexus are a great brand (Toyota) I am not aware any particular faults, but this depends on the model too.

Thanks for your response. So that's a no go :(

Any views on Subaru Legacy? Does it matter if its NZ new or imported? as there are a few imported ones around at good price.

Cheers

I'm a bit of a Subaru fan, having worked on and rallied them. The Legacy from 2001 onwards is a great car, very little faults. The odd wheel bearing, or AF sensor may need replacement. Also not known for their fuel economy, not bad but just uses more due to being AWD.

Thanks, but what about the second part of the question. NZ new vs imported?

I promise this is the last question:)

Sorry,
I doesn't really matter, both are fairly similar. You will just need to change the radio to a NZ one or get a band expander to find the stations. If it has a screen with navigation it may not be possible to transfer it to NZ maps.

Thanks, this is helpful.
