I'm thinking of buying a car that was imported from teh UK late last year. It's been in NZ for about 8 months and done quite a few miles by the importer which I suppose is reassuring (from the perspective that its not been imported with some latent defect waiting for a vulnerable buyer). I intend to get it inspected by the AA before I buy it. But i wanted to ask 2 questions; 1. Aside from rust, is there anything I should be particularly wary of on a UK export?
2. In the UK, the car had a full service history which I have seen. However, according to the stamp, the final UK service was done on 29,980 miles. But according to CarJam, the border check was done at 29,335 miles. - Seems impossible?

Thanks

As you say, rust and under-body corrosion on structural, steering and suspension components are particular issues with cars from the UK.
However, it is of concern that the mileage has gone backwards, indicating that perhaps the odometer may have been tampered with.
Depending on the brand of car, some new car distributors in New Zealand can access global service records and warranty history. While most imported vehicles these days seem to be legitimate, we have heard of a couple of instances of odometer tampering on cars from the UK. Certainly, this example would be cause for further investigation.

Odometer tampering in the UK has started to increase mainly it seems with cars that have been leased. There are high penalties if you go over the agreed mileage so this appears to be the prime reason.
