Hoping you might be able to narrow the field for us in our search for a good family wagon. With a 3 year old and twins on the way, we've been looking at SUVs capable of taking three baby seats, and good boot space. Basically finding something wide enough is the problem! We like the Tucson City, but I'm thinking too small. The Hyundai Santa Fe perhaps. Anything come to mind? Your advice much appreciated.

I am looking at an 87 VL commodore with the 6 cylinder Nissan 2.0 ltr engine done 232,000 kms. Do these have any known regular faults, we want to use for a tow car for our 20' Trailer Sailer.
Many thanks
TracyI agree with the space limitations you may face with the Tucson City. Pity, because it is a good choice of vehicle, practical without being over the top price wise.
The Santa Fe is certainly worthy of consideration especially as it is also available with a diesel engine which may have some added appeal to you. We have always found the Hyundai petrol engines a little on the thirsty side while their new diesels are very good. Same for the Kia range.
Judging by your email it sounds like you are looking at late model vehicles or even new, so and you are spoilt for choice with almost every manufacturer represented in this fast growing segment of the market and all have something unique to offer potential buyers.
My best advice is to take the time to visit as many showrooms as possible and do some comparisons on the different seat configurations and comfort levels etc each make / model offers. Sounds a frustrating exercise but I have also heard of some unbelievable deals being offered by some new car franchise dealers at the moment, so you may end up better off financially as well.
If you can narrow the field based on personal likes, dislikes, price and what suits your needs best, then come back to me for a technical perspective on your short list. Just don't be pressured into committing to buy and always remember it's impossible to offend a car salesman.
I would really like to stay in touch on this one.
Best wishes, sounds like you have a busy time ahead of you.
