Why are all the smaller new cars, even the almighty Toyota Corolla, only have provision for temporary spare wheels??? I thought they were supposed to be phased out?

Hi there,
Space savers are still fitted in some new cars. It varies between manufacture, some do and some don't. Some are using a can of tyre inflater instead of a spare,or run flat tyres.
Space savers may be less, but they are not reverting back to full spares as far as we are aware.
