I am about to purchase a new Mazda CX-7.

Are there any major problems with this car apart from the poor fuel economy?

Have the sales volumes been reasonable given the relatively new nature of this model?

Sales year to date for the Mazda CX7 are a total of 84 (Jan - March).

In comparison the best seller is the Mitsubishi Outlander which is sitting on 389 sales.

Others to note - Honda CRV 277, Hyundai Santa Fe 234, Holden Captiva 310, Ford Territory 256, Nissan Murano 58, Toyota Highlander 168.

The recently released VW Tiguan (diesel only) has sold 53 in the first month.

The Mazda has a slightly detuned version of the MPS turbo engine as fitted to the Mazda6 so it will not lack for performance but as you point out the fuel consumption may suffer (11.4 l/100km is the claimed consumption figure).

The Territory has also earned itself a name for using more than its share of petrol although the new models have addressed this somewhat with a revised transmission.

The Hyundai and Holden both have diesel options.

So many good choices in this class.

No known problems that we are aware of with the Mazda.
