Hi there,
I'm in the market looking to buy either a brand new baseline polo with dsg gearbox or the cross polo. Which car has the better engine the 1400cc on the baseline or the 1.2 tsi engine. Also is there anything I need to be aware with these cars?

There are several schools of thought regarding the TSI vs normally aspirated VW engine. Obviously, the turbo is great to drive, has plenty of power and sharp acceleration, however, there have been some piston problems, with some "experts" believing that forcing huge power out of a small capacity engine is over-stressing everything. However, I've also heard that some of the issues relate to people using 91 octane fuel, which is not recommended.
So, probably with a view to long-term ownership and lower risk, the 1.4 might be the better option, unless of course you're a new car buyer who keeps their car only until the warranty expires.
