I presently have an Outlander 2L, and would like to know what you could suggest in twin cabs that are softer riding more like a car than a ute.
It would be mainly used on roads with one or two people.
My thoughts are it would be handy to take loads to the dump of collect firewood

Due to the very nature of your question, you're no doubt aware, by the very nature of their design, utes are prone to giving a bumpy ride as they are light in the rear until laden. Once laden, they ride a lot better!
If you are looking at buying new or late model, probably the best riding utes around are the Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok and Mazda BT-50.
The traditional models such as Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton are all good vehicles but still feel more like a commercial vehicle, and not as soft riding as those I've mentioned.
The Holden Colorado and Isuzu D-Max are perhaps a couple to try too.
