We are looking to buy a small car and have our eye on a Vitz. 2007 model, one owner (ie NZ) 35,000kms-very neat condition and priced at 12,995. All information I have found recommends this model quite highly. Any fishhooks we should be looking for?

The Toyota Vitz will have a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) which doesn't have the best reputation for reliability. However, the mileage is very low so the risk should be a lot less than if it had around 100,000km.

There are 4WD models that have a conventional 4-speed automatic transmission but a 4WD vehicle will require more maintenance costs so it's not the ideal solution. You can also consider the manual transmission option.
