Hi there, we are currently looking for a car and were quite interested in the Toyota Vitz (2005) model. What is your opinion on this type of vehicle?

We would get an AA pre-inspection just to make sure before we purchase

The Vitz is a great model with a good reputation for reliability. Check which transmission the particular car has though, as many of the imports have a CVT transmission and our preference would be for the traditional 4 speed auto.

I've been told not to get this car as it has no guts because of engine size; what's your opinion on this? Thanks

The Vitz comes in three engine capacities, 1.0 litre, 1.3 litre and 1.5 litre. It depends in what you need in a car and what type of use you require it for, but for most people who require some open road use, the 1.0 litre won't be powerful enough as it's really only suitable for use around town.
However, the 1.3 and 1.5 should prove to be perfectly adequate for most people looking for a small, fuel-efficient vehicle.
