Hi,

After just getting a lecture from some dealer about the radiation risks of Japanese imports and why I should only buy NZ new I was curious what the AA viewpoint on this was? If radiation is a risk how to know if the right checks are done? Does an AA inspection cover this? Any other risks of imported cars that aren't pick up in normal checks?

Please see previous answer to this question regarding radiation risks of used imports from Japan. The AA Inspection doesn't cover this.

Other things to consider with Japan imports are that there’s no traceable service history and no WOF speedometer history in New Zealand.
