Hi,
We're looking at buying a Mazda Premacy. Models between year 2005 and 2007 are on our shortlist.
~ Is there anything we should be wary of? Certain motors, transmissions, 4WD etc?
~ They are all 2L motors, is 91 fuel ok?
~ And what is your view on attaching tow bars to these cars?
Thanks heaps for your time and help!

We are not aware of any problems with these 2.0L engines, be it the direct-injection (DISI) version or the standard port-injection motor, they both have good reputations and can run on 91 octane fuel.

The automatic transmissions are just as good but there are two types - there is a four-speed or the five speed auto 'box on these vehicles. The five-speed auto is the preferred option.

Unless you really need an AWD vehicle I would suggest that you stick to the 2WD models - less maintenance and less to go wrong.

I don't see a problem with fitting a tow bar to these vehicles - the 2.0L performs well enough to tow a light trailer.

The Premacy is a seven seater but the middle seat on the second row is small and has a lap strap seat belt which isn't ideal. The rear sliding doors are great, especially for loading kids into the back in the parking lot, and the third row seats can fold down into the floor when not in use for extra loading space.
