I am currently considering the purchase of a new car.

The two makes that I am having difficulty with are the Holden Calais V & the Honda V6 VL Sport.

Both cars are very well equipped. The major differences being the Holden is rear wheel drive and the Honda has the VCM engine.

What criteria would you measure these cars against - which would you choose?

They are both great cars for different reasons.

The Commodore is a hoot to drive, and well appointed for the money.

If you have kids they will love the rear entertainment package on offer in the Holden, and the rear-drive platform is exceptionally good.

The Honda though is entertaining to drive, offers good grunt, far greater economy and refinement, with some very cool technology such as the cylinder deactivation system.

If it was just about looks and which was the most fun to drive, the Commodore. If it's about economy, reliability and resale, the Honda.
