Finally settled on the above vehicle as a replacement for my aging mistral.I note these earlier models (2006) do not appear to have a temperature gauge, should this be a concern? Also any problems with the cvt? I note some very high mileage examples on trade me apparently not having probs.I would be looking at around the 50,000 mark. Many thanks Tom

Hi Tom,
Many vehicles no longer have temperature gauges, instead using a light which remains blue when cold, then goes out within the normal running range. Should the temperature rise outside of normal parameters and the engine overheat, the light will show red. Basically, it's no different to a temperature gauge, possibly better in some respects as people tend to take more notice of lights that gauges.
As for the CVT, it's one of the few that we rarely hear gives trouble, so I wouldn't be concerned about that. The Outlander generally has a good reputation for reliability and for a number of years was the most popular vehicle in its class. A good choice.
