Hello,
I am looking for a reliable and relatively efficient station wagon. I like the look of the 1997-1999 Caldina 2.0G and GT non-turbo (what is the major difference between the two by the way?), and they seem to be in my price range. I have heard good things about the Caldina also, but is there anything I need to be careful of (I don't believe these earlier models have the D4 engine?)?

The G has the 3S-FE engine and the GT has thee 3S-GE with VVTi providing a little more power (approx 102kW vs 138).
You are correct, these models don't have the D4 and either would be an excellent choice in this price range.

Thanks for that. What sort of fuel efficiency would I be looking at for the two models? Is there a good website to find that sort of information.

One of my colleagues drives one of these - he lives on the rural-ish outskirts of Auckland and gets around 8L/100km. Assuming you do a little more city running than he does, you're still likely to get around 9L/100km, so it's a relatively efficient car for its age and size.
