First off, http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=666592255 do you think this car would be a good first car? Chain driven is apparently good, and it looks tidy and the person selling the car sounds like they know what they are doing. What do you think?
Thanks,

I think you should look for a vehicle that has no modifications and less mileage. You could always get modifications professionally and legally done yourself.

However, the 2.0L engines on the Nissan Primera do have a good reputation and the manual transmission is a safe bet. But, the high mileage and modifications do increase the risks.

A good traceable service history will go a long way.
