I am interested in buying a Toyota Wish 2003-2006, and have been reading about 1800 & 2000 motors. I am assuming that 1800 are 4 cylinders and 2000 are ctv. Can you please tell me if the CTV motors have improved and if so what year did they improve from. Also what motor is more fuel efficient as a dealer told me the 2000 CTV motor is and that the CTV is not a problem with 2006 models? I'm a bit confused by dealers advice's.

I assume you are referring to the CVT transmissions in which case you should consider the 1.8L version that uses a conventional four-speed automatic transmission instead as it has a better reputation for reliability in this year range you are considering.

CVTs have improved but in the year range you are considering it's best to stick with a conventional automatic transmission.
