I'm buying a caravan and then a suitable used tow vehicle (SUV). I'd like to know what technical spec I should look for when selecting the tow vehicle; ie engine size, auto/manual and whatever else.
You should firstly look at the manufacturer recommended tow rating for the vehicle - do not exceed this. A diesel vehicle is the preferred choice for towing heavy loads and a rear wheel drive or AWD vehicle.
