I have been looking for a used vehicle, specifically a SUV with a budget spend up to $30k. Really would like the leather interior. Both CX-7 and RAV4 is the right size vehicle for my needs. Between the CX-7 or RAV4 which is the better SUV ( from a fuel economy, reliability, performance perspective). I know Mazda are not making CX-7 anymore. Could I still get parts for this car? What is the Nissan Murano like in comparison?

ABayliss

The CX-7 is a bit bigger than a RAV4 and arguably offers a little more luxury, however it is known to be a real gas guzzler, so the RAV4 would be the better vehicle from the perspective of fuel economy. Both of these vehicles enjoy a good reputation for reliability and parts supply should not be an issue for either.
Murano is probably a similar proposition to the CX-7 in that it has a reputation for being thirsty, also it has a CVT transmission, so not really suitable for towing.
All things considered, although it may not be quite as luxurious as the other two, the RAV4 is probably the all-round better bet - they're popular, relaible, a little more economical and tend to retain their value better.

Thanks very much. With the recommendation given in mind. How would the HONDA CRV compare with RAV4? With a budget spend up to $30000 and of the two models (between years 2010-2012) which is the better?

ABayliss

The CRV would be another very good choice and compares favourably alongside the RAV4. Either of these two would be good options and it really comes down to which one you prefer, as well as the condition and mileage.
In your budget you should be able to find a good low mileage NZ New example of either model with a full service history.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

I spotted this Mazda CX-7 on your website:
http://www.aa.co.nz/cars/cars-for-sale/search/mazda/cx-7/195259/

It appears to be a LTD edition, I have contacted the owner and they are negotiable on price.

Is an AWD better than a 4WD? What advantage would I gain with a AWD model?

ABayliss

Apologies for the delay in replying - I have been out of internet ofr cellphone range.
In this context, AWD (All Wheel Drive) and 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) are the same thing - just different terminology.
