Are there any current small/medium size cars (or possibly SUVs) that still have a full size spare ?

Yes there are and normally the Korean car importers (Hyundai and Kia) tend to keep with the full size spare - you can look at the Kia Cerato, Hyundai i30. Some car importers do have the option of choosing a full size spare at an extra cost.
