Buying this NZ car at 75,000km with most bells and whistles. Excellent condition inside and out. Asking price $13,990. Engine passed vacuum test.
Any specific areas to look at. Reliability issues, etc.
Car was produced in South Africa in September 2005. Would this be a 2005 model or a 2006 model. Registered in NZ Feb. 2006.
According to our information, the Focus changed in June 2005, so the September 2005 produced car you are considering will be the new model. However, the Dealer Red Book guide also lists an upgrade in February 2006, which won't apply to your car, however from what we can tell, this seems to be some spec/slight facelift upgrade rather than a major change.
It's a popular model with no major issues we're aware of, although some parts seem to be a bit on the pricey side.
Regarding value, $13,990 is right up there for a car of this mileage, but if it is a genuinely mint car, with a full service history being sold by a reputable dealer (so Consumer Guarantees Act, warranties apply etc), it's probably what you would expect to pay for the peace of mind. As a private sale with no consumer protection, I'd say it's not quite worth that.
Thanks for the info. Will buy it as it is with a Ford dealer and condition is mint as stated by a VTNZ pre-purchase, with report quoting many years of good motoring left. Service record excellent. Price will be dropped a LITTLE bit.
AA do not have pre-purchase in my regional town, except for one day a week if you can get a booking.
