Hi all,

I'm deciding between few cars which are in my price range but I need your advice and opinion as to which is better value for money.

The cars are :

2103 VW golf 90kw Auto comfortline brand new

2013 KIA Cerato 1.8 SX brand new

2013 Hyundai i30 1.8 auto elite brand new

2013 Toyota GT86 brand new

I am aware the first two are different category than the last, but which you would choose as your new car ? And why ?

Thanks
Ben

Opinions may differ depending on who you ask but the new Volkswagen Golf VII is a good choice. The Golf has frugal fuel economy however it has a smaller engine with a turbocharger bolted to it and it has a quick shifting seven-speed DSG auto. The exterior and interior styling along with good standard kit, comfort and good handling characteristics are impressive for a vehicle in the sub $35k price.

The Cerato and i30 are good choices too but the models you have mentioned have a premium price over the Golf and larger as well as thirstier powerplants.

The Toyota GT86 is a completely different vehicle. It is fun to drive but it’s best used as a weekend vehicle. The seating is only good for one full size passenger in the front and two small kids at the rear and it sits low to the ground which can be annoying for everyday use. It is not the most powerful sports car either but it is quick enough to be entertaining and it is a rear wheel drive. If you are looking for an affordable sports car then yes the Toyota GT86 is a good choice.

I recommend that you test drive all the vehicles you are considering as the decision is yours to make - you might prefer the automatic transmissions and 1.8L engines on the Korean vehicles or the sporty feel of the Toyota 86.

Many thanks for your response.
I have changed my selection a bit and was hoping you can assist me again with the selection.

Options are:
All brand new and 2013 model

VW Golf 7 Comfortline
BMW 1 series Edition 30
Subaru Impreza x
Kia Cerato EX or SX hatch

VW worries me a bit with the issues people experienced with the DSG and VW plan to can the DSG and stick ot conventional Auto gearbox, however I enjoyed the ride.

The best service was from BMW, they excel in customer service by far.

The key factors for me are:
-reliability
-Comfort
-and good resell value ( I don't do high mileage )

Which one from the list you recommend the most ?

Thanks a lot :)

If the budget runs to it then you should consider the BMW 1 Series Edition 30.

Thanks for your recommendation. The BMW was my initial choice however I dont have enough knowledge to know if it is worth the $50k mark compared to other ones I mentioned around 30-35K price.

The BMW is a premium European brand that has good technology packed into it and the quick and smooth shifting eight-speed automatic transmission drives the rear wheels - you won't find another vehicle with an eight-speed auto 'box in this class/price range. The Edition 30, be it the 1 or 3 Series vehicles, offer a lot of kit and is good value for money.

Hi again,

So I might need to settle for second best instead of BMW due to certain reasons.

I was thinking about "Kia Cerato SX 1.8 Auto hatch" ( 2013 brand new) which comes with good features and reasonably priced.

What are your thoughts on that specific car? Is it worth it? Do these cars keep their value to certain level after couple of years?

Once again, Much appreciate your support. This service is fantastic! :)

Then I will stick to my previous comments on the VW Golf. You should take the vehicles you are considering for a drive and I am sure you might agree with me once you have done so. If not then I would be interested to hear your comments.
