I am going to buy a new small car but am having trouble deciding between the Swift XE or Kia Picanto.
I can't find reviews for either, what is your opinion?

If sales are anything to go by, then the Swift wins by a huge margin. It has been one of the top four selling new cars month after month for some time.
The Picanto in comparison hardly rates on the sales front.
This is an important factor further down the line as the Swift will be a sought after vehicle second hand, so resale values will be much better.
Most people compare the Swift with the likes of the Toyota Yaris, Honda Jazz and the Mazda2 to be honest, the Picanto is seen as a step below these vehicles.
Not a criticism of the Kia, I think it is more of a around town vehicle whereas the Swift can be used in a more urban and open road environment.
The engine size is also worth considering. The Swift has the bigger engine and therefore is better able to handle open road driving while still maintaining good fuel consumption.
Value for money it's hard to go past the Swift in my view.
The only negative point with the Swift is (at the base model level) the lack of some safety features such as electronic stability control and side airbags.
