Looking at 2 possibly 3 either the Ipsum or wish we have 2 kids and are quite active I personally want to stay with a station wagon but as number 2 is about to head to school we will have pick ups and drop offs. Is the wish smaller than the ipsum but do they use the same motor? Which would you recommend? I personally like the Mazda 6 staton wagon as I have bike racks on the roof I need a car that I can put these on can I do this with the ipsum or wish? Any help much appreciated

The Wish is smaller than the Ipsum and (depending on year etc) uses the Corolla 1.8 litre engine and the Ipsum (again, depending on year etc), uses the 2.4 litre engine, similar to the Camry.
Both enjoy a fairly good reputation, so it really comes down to which one suits your needs best.
The Mazda6 wagon is quite a different proposition. It's a great wagon to drive, is very popular and also enjoys a fairly good reputation for reliability. However, unlike the Wish and Ipsum it is not available as a 7 seater. The closest thing Mazda has to the others is the MPV or Premacy.
There's probably no reason why you can't put bike racks on any vehicle and there are numerous suppliers. Outlets such as Repco or a specialist roof rack supplier can advise on options.
