I bought a car from a car dealer for $1000 (yeah, now I know). It broke down 5 days later. I informed the dealer and they told me to bring the car back and they would repair it (at their own cost).
I wanted to cancel the deal and get my money back, but they would not agree to do that.
I had the car towed back to them for $112. They repaired it and now want me to pay $290. What can I do?
I don't want to spend any more money on this car. I never authorised any of the 'additional repairs' they claimed they made. Please help!

If you purchased from a Licensed Motor Trader then it is a legal requirement for the vehicle to be fit for purpose regardless of the price paid.
Five days of ownership would suggest the vehicle was not fit for purpose in my view.
You should contact the Department of courts on their free phone line 0800 367 6838 and seek their advice.
If the dealer is a member of either the Motor Trade Association or the Import Motor Vehicle Dealer Association you can also register a complaint by phoning 0508 682 633.
